现在分词作伴随状语在句中有哪些可能的位置

问题描述
根据我的理解，现在分词作伴随状语应该是放在句末，至少应该是谓语动词之后。如：
He rode away whistling. 他吹着口哨骑车走了。
I lay tossing half the night. 我翻来覆去半夜没睡着。
She ran screaming out of the room. 她尖叫着跑出了房间。
Don’t you sit there doing nothing. 别什么也不干坐在那里。
They worked in the field hoeing corn. 他们在玉米地里锄草。
请问，除此之外，用作伴随状语的现在分词还有其他位置可以放吗？比如句首，谓语动词之前？

1. 放在句首
Following Tom, they started to climb. 跟在汤姆后面，他们开始攀登。
Walking on tiptoe, I approached the little window. 我踮着脚，走近那个小窗户。
Traveling by jeep, we visited a number of cities. 我们坐着吉普车访问了许多城市。
2. 放在句末
The cooked potato came, steaming on the plate. 煮土豆来了，在盘子里冒着热气。
He combed through the files searching for evidence of fraud. 他详查档案，寻找欺诈行为的证据。
Jim was hovering at her elbow, trying to say something. 吉姆在她身边转来转去，想说些什么。
3. 放在谓语动词之前
