I had to drive eight miles at rush hour.
I’m anxious to avoid the motorway at rush hour.
Even with a change of trains, the subway is quicker than a cab at rush hour.
A car breaking down at rush hour could cause gridlock across half the city.
The bomb contained a timing device set to make it go off at rush hour.
The traffic in the city is chaotic in the rush hour.
On the tube in the rush hour the passengers are packed like sardines.
You need the luck of the devil to get a seat on the train in the rush hour.
▲除了用介词 in, at 外,有时也用介词 during,此时也通常用定冠词,与 during the rush hour 与 in the rush hour 同义,但更强调“期间”。如:
They run extra trains during the rush hour.
There ought to be more buses during the rush hour.
I purposely avoid making train journeys during the rush hour.
During the rush hour the journey may take up to twice as long.
Traffic slows to a crawl (= goes so slowly it almost stops) during rush hour.
I got caught in the morning rush hour.
During the evening rush hour it was often solid with vehicles.
The explosive device was timed to go off at the rush hour.
During rush hour, downtown streets are clogged with commuters.
