require sth of sb 的意思是“向某人要求某物”，也可说成 require sth from sb（用介词 of 比用介词 from 更常见）。如：
What do you require of me? 你要求我做什么?
I have done everything that was required of me. 一切要我做的事情我都已经做好了。
▲require 的其他用法
1. 表示“要求”，比较以下同义表达：
他要求我出场。
正：He requires my appearance.
正：He requires me to appear.
正：He requires that I (should) appear.
后接 that 从句时，从句谓语通常用“should+动词原形”这样的虚拟语气形式（如上例）。
2. 表示“需要”，比较以下同义表达：
这个计划需要仔细考虑。
正：This plan requires careful thought.
正：This plan requires to be thought carefully.
正：This plan requires being thought carefully.
表示客观上“需要……”时，若后接动词作宾语，要注意：主语与其后动词为被动关系时，该动词若用不定式，要用被动式；若用动名词，则要用主动形式表示被动意义。如：
The children require looking after [to be looked after]. 这些孩子需要照看。
The floor requires washing [to be washed]. 地板需要拖洗了。
