问题描述
外研社版高中英语第一册(必修)第69页有这样一句:
In China, there is a popular belief that true friends are people who have had similar life experiences, such as they have eaten rice from the same pot or they have lived under the same roof.
请问such as 后面能接句子吗?
老师答疑
王老师:
根据我个人的语感,我没有见过such as 表示举例时,后面引导句子的情形,一般应该都是名词或名词性短语。所以,我认为教材中的这个句子是不正确的。
English Expert 老师在解答中提到:such as 后也可以跟句子,要列举2个完整的事件,不是一个事物。不知您能否找到其他例句来佐证?
因此,我专门查阅了语法资料,找到了一定的根据。Collins Cobuild English Usage书中解释为“You use "such as" between two noun phrases when you are giving an example of something.”
例句:They played games such as bingo. Mammals such as dogs and elephants give birth to live young.
另在国外英语教学网站看到了这样的解释:For example and for instance can begin new sentences. Such as cannot be used to begin new sentences.

也许人们往往有一种习惯性的思维,认为教材里的句子,一般不会出错。实际上,连权威的字典都会出错,教材也难免。
陈老师:
In China, there is a popular belief that true friends are people who have had similar life experiences, such as they have eaten rice from the same pot or they have lived under the same roof.
参考译文:在中国,有一个普遍的观点/看法,真正的朋友是那些拥有类似生活经历阅历的人,例如他们吃由同一锅所煮的米饭或他们居住了同一屋檐下.
such as A,or/and B
备注:以上列举的A和B 可以单词,短语,还可以使句子,如果是句子,以上,列举2个完整的事件,不是一个事物.
列举的(第1件事)是他们吃由同一锅所煮的米饭
列举的(第2件事)他们居住了同一屋檐下.
总结,SUCH AS 后列举内容,可以事物,也可以事件;(单词肯短语表示事物,句子表示完整事件)
(特别备注:such A and B, 中,A,B为名词以及名词短语语言现象更常见,更普遍。换句话说,列举事物要比列举时间更常见.)
请按照以上方式匀理解,就很容易了.
