比较级前可否有定冠词？

问题描述
下面两道题：
1. —Whom would you like to be your assistant, Jack or David?
—If I had to choose, David would be _______ choice.
A. good B. better C. the better D. the best
2. —Have you decided which you'd like to buy, the black shirt or the pink one?
—Of the two, the pink one is_________.
A. the nicest B. the nicer C. nice D. nicer.
对于第1题，老师说应选B；对于第2题，老师说应选D，理由是形容词比较级前不加the。
但我认为， 对于第1题，应选C，因为choice是可数名词单数，前面应有冠词。
对于第2题，我认为应选B。因为我在《无敌高中语法》p25看到：“The +形容词比较级+of the two" 意为：两个中较..........的。例句为： He is the better of the two. 不知道我的看法对不对？

你的看法是正确的，在只有两个成员的一组人或事物中，的确要用定冠词加上比较级的形式，表示两者间“较……的一个”。加上定冠词仍然是特指的缘故。再例：
I’ll give you the bigger steak: I’m not very hungry.
I like Betty and Maud, but I think Betty is the nicer of the two.
He is the stronger of the two.
